Thought of the day
“ I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinion of himself than on the opinion of others.” — Marcus Aurelius
I think I am ready to blog. Having thought about what I am going to say for 44 months, I think that it is time to start. My original blog was going to start before the 08 election, an election that I thought was crucial to this country beginning to heal. I was right about the election being crucial but wrong about the outcome - I supported Ms. Clinton. So here we are many months later, our economy is stalled (as it will be for most of the current decade), our leaders quarreling (gridlock is the new normal) and the world looks like a scary place. This is just the way things are and the sooner people get used to it the sooner we can start to work together to make this world a better place. If we align our wants and hopes to this new reality we can start to rationally work together with respect and integrity so that we can maintain our communities and country for the current and future generations. I believe in this country not because of it's military might but because of it's values that are expressed in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The times may change and the expression of the values may be different from this country's founders but the values are fundamental and resilient enough to adapt to the changing time.
I hope that you enjoy the discourse and participate in the process. I hope to hear from you.
